Topics of Investigation:
Characterization and modeling of MIMO channels at 5 GHz
Realistic MIMO channel modeling is a prerequisite for reliable performance evaluation of MIMO transceiver concepts.
Known channel modeling approaches are evaluated and compared to available measurement data. Required customizations to the
WIGWAM application scenarios are investigated.
Measurements with a 5 GHz RUSK MIMO channel sounder and data analysis
The RUSK MIMO channel sounder is used for dedicated measurement campaigns in cooperation with WIGWAM partners. The analysis results provide a solid base for the WIGWAM channel models.
Specification and simulation of a channel sounder hardware extension
A novel hardware concept will be developed for future channel measurements at higher frequencies (24, 60 GHz) and higher bandwidths (> 1 GHz). The effects of phase noise, phase stability and non-linearities must be considered with respect to
typical channel sounder data analysis algorithms.
Prototype development of a sounder extension for 24 GHz
An integrated high frequency semiconductor chip solution (SiGe) will be implemented. The operation as a new front-end for
the RUSK channel sounder will be demonstrated in lab experiments.
