TELEFUNKEN Radio Communication Systems GmbH & Co. KG z.Hd. Dr. Peter Egner Eberhardt-Finckh-Strasse 55 |
Telefunken’s goal within the project WIGWAM is to ensure the suitability of a new standard also for communication scenarios
for high velocity trains an vehicles. The velocity of the mobiles within this scenario is about 500km/h for
trains and about 250km/h.
Due to the experiences from former projects
the use of MIMO-techniques seams to be usable and necessary to achieve the
required availability under the high data rates.
For a most effective use of the available data
rate on air the protocol stacks shall be optimized for this scenario.
To verify the features of this project the
transmission will be demonstrated by using modified front-end transceivers
(38GHz) from Transrapid project.
Due to the requirement of high availability it is necessary to implement position diversity as well as space diversity to ensure the radio link even at low channel quality. In addition to this the capacity of the channel shall be used for high data rates as long as the channel quality is high.
The scenario includes ‘line of sight’ conditions and Doppler-shift but no Doppler spread. The use of software reconfigurable hardware for the modulation and demodulation is planned.
