The Vodafone Chair concentrates its research within WIGWAM on the following aspects:

Characterization and Compensation (in the base-band) of the effects of nonlinearities:
The focus lies on investigations of the effects of phase noise in OFDM systems as well as of the effects of nonlinear power amplifiers. A combined (theoretical) treatment of both effects is targeted.
Transmission of parallel data streams by means of MIMO-techniques:
The focus lies on MIMO-techniques for OFDM including investigations of the effects of frequency selective channels and of the channel estimation, the design of receiver architectures, and the tracking of a time varying MIMO-channel.
Low power digital signal processing hardware for high data rate wireless communications:
Within the WIGWAM project, the Vodafone Chair is developing a new Vector-DSP TOMAHAWK. It will be used for demonstration of key signal processing algorithms required for high data rates in future wireless communications system.
